Downs scoff at R5m Xulu deal

Johannesburg - Siyanda Xulu’s agent has confirmed that the defender will be staying at Mamelodi Sundowns after the club turned down a final bid from Russian club, FC Rostov.

The Siya crew reported earlier this month that Downs had rejected a €400 000 (R4 million) offer from the Russians and that The Brazilians were looking for more from Rostov.

However, despite the Russian side coming back with an offer believed to be in the region of around R5 million for the 20-year-old, the final bid has been rejected and Xulu will remain at Chloorkop.

The player’s agent, Paul Mitchell, told the Siya crew, “I can confirm that three offers have been rejected, and now the final offer has been rejected by Mamelodi Sundowns. It’s very disappointing for the player, but he’s a Sundowns player and they’ve got a valuation in their mind.

“However, unfortunately the local market is not conducive to the European market.  As always, Siyanda will continue to give his all for Sundowns and also Bafana Bafana if given the chance.”

It remains to be seen whether Xulu will get the opportunity to impress in a Sundowns shirt this season, or whether he will spend more time languishing on their bench.

That's Sundunusa for you. They never have players' interests at heart. They're selfish and only want to destroy players careers like they did with the likes of Manqoba Ngwenya, Mphela, Lovers Mohlala, etc. That's why Morgan Gould and Eric Mathoho refused to join them despite huge salary offers. They're not aware they destroy their own team. Only players who habour no ambitions of going abroad will sign for Sundunusa.

5m is too low and i do agree with Sundowns. How can u buy a player with a lot of money and just sell him cheaply afterwards to any team. If their final offer is R5m then how much was his salary gonna be? That's not a greener pasture.

Quality players are sold locally for around R6m, so why should Downs sell Xulu for less to Russia. I bet Khoza can beat that prize to have Xulu play for Pirates.

Khoza can beat that offer anytime to have Xulu play for Pirates. He deserves better. this is business by the way, not charity.

Mushekwi played only 2 seasons for Downs and now he's in Germany. He was amongst top scorers for those 2 years. I do not think that is destroying players. U have to play your part

stadium thieves should concetrate on their affairs ,if i was their player or supporter i will be very much worried and contemplating a move somewhere else because they might not continue earning their salaries or enjoying their membership, the hawks r watching every step they take.

Unfortunately u r not even a football supporter cos if u were one u would understand that the club got nothing to do with the arrest of their official. It seems u r bitter cos your team lost on Wednesday night!

Their final bid is way 2 low...i think Xulu can be sold around R10 million, and If u hadnt notice tht boy is a fight, he had played wit Booth, Johannes, Mabizela, Mungomeni, jst 2 mention the few top defenders in PSL. He had been a regular to Sundowns 4 the past 3 season under many different coaches...
