Cape Town - Teko Modise has confessed that Mamelodi Sundowns have been suffering fatigue following the PSL’s hectic schedule.
According to Soccer Laduma, Modise stated that his team just has to grind it out until their last game of the year before they can take some sort of breather as the Absa Premiership takes a break due to the AFCON 2015.
“We have played four/five games in the space of two weeks, so it has been tough, but it is not only tough for us, but for other teams as well, so we can’t complain, we must just soldier on,” said Modise.
Modise believes they escaped a possible draw or loss as they fought hard to earn maximum points against Maritzburg United.
“We came here knowing very well that Maritzburg is a tough team and thank God we scored two goals which gave us a little bit of cushion because they nearly came back at the end and we had to grind out the result.”
Sundowns are now challenging for second spot at the moment with Bidvest Wits, who are due to play SuperSport United on Wednesday evening.
Pitso Mosimane’s side have 28 points with a game in hand.
The Brazilians next face a tricky encounter against a slumping Ajax Cape Town at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.
Kick-off is at 18:00.
