'Downs fined for unruly fans

Johannesburg - Mamelodi Sundowns have been fined R100 000, suspended for one year, for spectator misbehaviour.

The Premier Soccer League disciplinary committee (PSL DC) said on Friday that Sundowns supporters and thrown a variety of objects at the match officials after their 1-1 draw against Wits in Pretoria last month.

"Sundowns pleaded guilty and were fined R100 000 wholly suspended for 12 months," the PSL DC said in a statement.

"They will issue a written apology to the League and post it on their and PSL website within seven days."

The PSL DC also said the club would address spectators about behaviour at all their remaining home fixtures this season, prior to kick-off and at half-time.

Meanwhile, Moroka Swallows coach Gordon Igesund pleaded not guilty of charging towards the match officials in an aggressive manner in his team's 1-1 draw against AmaZulu in Dobsonville in March.

The PSL DC said Igesund pleaded not guilty.

The League presented its first witness and the matter was postponed until next month.
