Cape Town - The PSL Q3 challenge is heating up as Mamelodi Sundowns overtook Bidvest Wits on the log, thanks to a superior goal difference.

Read: Wits sit atop Q3 standings

Over the weekend, Pitso Mosimane’s charges claimed a 2-0 victory over Free State Stars courtesy of Cuthbert Malajila and Khama Billiat goals. The win saw them move to the top of the Q3 standings with Bidvest Wits in second position, with a single goal difference keeping them apart.

A late Lerato Lamola penalty earned Bloemfontein Celtic a hard-fought win against the Students. The loss has dented Clever Boys’ title hopes in the process.

But it's the University of Pretoria and Bloemfontein Celtic who have the greatest chance of winning the Q3 as they boast 14 and 13 points respectively - and have a game in hand.

AmaTuks clash with Platinum Stars and SuperSport United, while Celtic play Matsatsansta and Polokwane City before Q3 ends.

Q3 consists of eight games with the winner taking home a cheque for R1.5 million.
