Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns striker Edward Manqele could be on his way out of Chloorkop before the new campaign gets underway, reports KickOff.com website.
Manqele, who spent a season on loan at Moroka Swallows, joined the Brazilians during the 2012/13 season from Free State Stars. He failed to impress during a disappointing first season and was loaned out to Swallows where he finished the season with 12 goals.
Reports suggest, however, that he is unlikely to stay at Sundowns when he returns next month.
“Edward will return to Sundowns because the problem is that he has already expressed his desire to leave,” a Downs official tells KickOff.com.
“At Sundowns if a player doesn’t want to play for us, we don’t force them to stay; they have to leave and play football where they will happy. Same goes with Thami Sangweni who has already told us that he wants to leave. All in all, both players are unlikely to stay.”
Swallows have confirmed that they will not be keeping the player, as they can't afford his salary. This leaves Kaizer Chiefs as the serious contenders for Manqele’s signature.
During the January transfer window Chiefs made it known that they were interested in Manqele, and recently their coach Stuart Baxter also stated that he will be signing offensive players.
