Cape Town - Keagan Dolly scored again as Mamelodi Sundowns beat Chippa United 2-0 to advance into the quarterfinals of the Telkom Knockout.
Hlompho Kekana put the result beyond doubt with four minutes remaining after Thamsanqa Sangweni saw red at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday evening.
Sundowns join SuperSport United, Golden Arrows, Maritzburg United and Free State Stars in the final eight.
The hosts got off to the brighter start with Thabo Nthethe seeing his header from close range wide of goal in the 12 minute.
'Downs biggest threat came from deep with Tebogo Langerman forcing Daniel Akpeyi into a good save, before Wayne Arendse was unlucky to see his header canon off the crossbar after he rose above his marker with 30 minutes on the clock.
Langerman brought the best out of the Chippa gloves-man, who parried the fullback’s initial effort before saving at Cuthbert Malajila's feet on the cusp of half-time.
Dolly finally opened the scoring on the hour mark with his third goal in two games. Bongai Zungu guided the ball into the path of the former Ajax Cape Town winger, who hit home on the half-volley from the edge of the area.
Sangweni was sent for an early shower in the 76th minute after picking up his second yellow card of the game, but Chippa's best chance would come with 10 men.
Lerato Chabangu teed up Mark Mayambela, whose first-time shot from inside the area flew wide of Denis Onyango's goal seven minutes from time.
Kekana made sure of the result in the 86th minute with his deflected shot sneaking past Akpeyi at the near post as the Chilli Boys bowed out of the tournament at the first round once again.
