“For me this opportunity helps a lot because it keeps one on the urge while fighting to get into the 18-man squad and become a regular first team player,” said the player to the clubs website.

The 24-year-old admits that his chemistry with the new players are still at an infant stage but relishes the opportunity to improve as a player in the reserve league.

“Honestly though the big picture for me is to fight for a place in the first team, and I have already gotten a few matches to show what I can do.”

“I won’t lie, some of the young players have potential even though some of them are still very young.”

“And you saw in the previous game [Usuthu lost 1-0 to Orlando Pirates] they started getting cramps at some stages of the game. They’re seeing how demanding the big stage is. In the next game we must be up for the task.”

AmaZulu next opponents are Free State Stars in their next Diski Challenge match which is will be played at the Nike Centre (B) in Soweto.

Kick-off is at 12:00 on Wednesday, September 24.
