Diski Challenge Team of the Week

Cape Town - The battle for the MultiChoice Diski Challenge knockout round spots continued in match-day six last weekend. While Group B produced two quarterfinals, Group A is wide open as the four spots are still available.

The panel at supersport.com have chosen the best eleven players from the latest round of action.

University of Pretoria's Thakasani Mbanjwa takes the goalkeeping spot after denying the impressive striking force of Ajax Cape Town as they played to a goalless draw. The young keeper kept his cool and wasn't intimidated by the iconic Cape Town Stadium.

There is a twist in defence as the judges opted for a 3-5-2 formation and picked three defenders. Making the team is Roscoe Pietersen, who kept the free-scoring Celtic at bay in their 2-1 win. He capped his performance with a goal when he netted the second goal.

He is joined by left-back Simphiwe Mtsweni from Kaizer Chiefs, who impressed against Polokwane City and created a goal after starting a move from his own half to set up Mduduzi Nyandeni. Markus Lecki kept out the resurgent AmaZulu to help Bidvest Wits get a point that ensured they remain in the race for a quarterfinal spot.

The midfield is made up of Free State Stars' Jackson Maphathe, who continued his good scoring form, to join the other top scorers on four goals. Hendrick Ekstein (Kaizer Chiefs), Thabo Rakhale (Orlando Pirates), Sifiso Mnguni (Platinum Stars) and Mothusi Gopane (Polokwane City) complete the midfield. Mnguni will drop back to assist the three-man defence.

The impressive Gopane was again on target for Polokwane against Chiefs. Mnguni also scored late in the game to earn Platinum a draw. Ekstein and Rakhale won the man of the match awards, playing for Chiefs and Pirates respectively.

The attack is led by Sundowns' Tebogo Reed, who scored a brace against Black Aces, as the young Brazilians became the first team to qualify for the quarterfinals.

He is partnered by Siyanda Ngubo, who came in as a substitute to score twice in three minutes, to help Pirates seal their place in the next round.
