Cape Town - Orlando Pirates coach Roger de Sa is eager to sign Ghanaian striker Yakubu Mohammed, according to a report on the Soccer Laduma website.
The 24-year-old's club chairperson at Ashanti Gold, Kudjoe Fianoo, is happy to accept the highest bid for the player, which could open up a bidding war between local clubs here in South Africa, with Pirates, Wits and Maritzburg United reportedly after his services.
It has been reported that Ashanti Gold are seeking a fee of between R1m and R2.5m for "Yak", who was top scorer in last year’s Ghanaian Premier League.
At present it seems that Pirates are leading the race to sign him, with the player apparently set for a medical at Parktown.
