Cape Town - Ajax Cape Town coach, Roger De Sa, has dismissed rumours suggesting he is on the verge of making a move for Orlando Pirates midfielder Lehlohonolo Masalesa.
The towering midfielder joined Bucs from Bidvest Wits in September 2012 but found his first-team opportunities limited last season, making just five appearances.
Pirates elected not to offer Masalesa a one-year extension at the end of the 2014/15 Premiership season, meaning the player is currently a free agent.
He has been training with Eric Tinkler's squad in a bid to maintain his match fitness, and the club is unlikely to offer him a new deal ahead of the new campaign.
However, De Sa has poured cold water on suggestions that he will hand Masalesa the chance to revive his career in Cape Town.
"I have been hearing that rumour since last year but I have never ever had a word with Vieira [about that]," De Sa was quoted as saying by KickOff.
"I've got enough in that position. What is he going to do there? I need players that will play; I don't have the luxury of having another player just to sit in the stands.
"There is no way we can have that. The players we sign have to be on the field. They have to be available. We don't have the luxury of getting a player from a high salary, only to put him on the grand stand. We can't do that."
