Cape Town - Orlando Pirates coach Roger de Sa has praised the performance of young debutant goalkeeper Brighton Mhlongo, after they Black Leopards 4-1 on Wednesday night.
Pirates' 1-0 home defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns on the weekend ended their title hopes, which meant the coach was able to give his fringe players a shot in the clash at Orlando Stadium.
Mhlongo, 22, made his first start in the PSL.
"We tried a couple of different players and gave a couple of guys a chance," De Sa told the Football411 website.
"Right now, we're trying to look at players who are good enough for next season. Today was a good opportunity to see if we could give Brighton a run.
"The real thing comes when you play in a game like tonight's (Wednesday's).
"I'm pretty happy with his performance, and in general he was pretty good."
Pirates, who host Maritzburg United in their final league game on Saturday, remain third on the PSL log, one point behind second-placed Platinum Stars.
Kaizer Chiefs wrapped up the title when they drew 1-1 with SuperSport United on Wednesday night.
