De Sa: Sox must improve

Johannesburg - Orlando Pirates coach Roger de Sa has admitted Tlou Segolela may be an impact player after all, having failed to impress in the Soweto derby after playing from the start.

Segolela told Football411 a week ago that "every time I come off the bench I seem to be doing the business for the team, so I guess coach Roger (de Sa) knows how to use me effectively."

According to Football411.com website, this time, though, De Sa gave the winger his chance from the beginning, but following the 1-1 draw, the coach gave an honest assessment of Sox's performance after he managed 81 minutes.

"Tlou seems to be an impact player by the look of things. Every time we start him he kind of fades away," De Sa admitted to this site.

"But the guy keeps coming on from the bench and he keeps performing, so eventually you give him a starting berth so it is a difficult one."

However, the former Bidvest Wits tactician further said no-one is happy to be an impact player and with that in mind, says the ball is in Segolela's court to change his game.

"I don't believe anyone wants to be an impact player. Every player wants to start and play for 90 minutes, so he is a good impact player there is no doubt about it," he added.

"But he's got to change his game - he has to become a 90-minute player and I have to coach him to become a better player, but I agree with you that he is not a good starter, but we will work on it."

The 24-year-old has started three league games this campaign and came off the bench nine times. He scored against Golden Arrows on August 10 and against Bidvest Wits on November 24 after coming on off the bench in both games.
