Daniels looking to regain Bafana spot

Cape Town - SuperSport United defender Clayton Daniels is hoping for another successful season with club and country.

The lanky defender told Sport24 that the memory of him lifting the Telkom Knockout competition as captain of Matsatsantsa remains fresh in his mind and is confident the club can win more trophies again in the new season.

“It’s a moment I will never forget and I think we have a good team to go beyond what we achieved last season,” Daniels said.

“The club has brought in new faces and I think we have a quality side that should compete for more trophies this season."

Daniels admits he is rearing to go after missing the two opening matches of the new season due to suspension from the previous campaign.

He missed the 3-1 loss to Bidvest Wits in the MTN 8 quarter-finals while as also absent in the Wednesday 1-0 win over Orlando Pirates.

“The goal is to play regularly and help my team success and that will boost my chances of being selected for the national team.

“It was a good feeling to be part of Bafana Bafana and I’m grateful to coach Shakes Mashaba. The target is to put more work on my play and remain with the national team,” he said.
