Cosmos rope in Malawian midfielder

Cape Town - Newly promoted Jomo Cosmos look to have roped in a Malawian midfielder as they begin to bolster their squad for next season.

Mecium Mhone, who currently plays for Blue Eagles FC and the Malawian national team, is heading to South Africa tomorrow (Thursday, June 25) to undergo a one week trial period with the club.

There is also an unnamed South African club who are interested in the midfielder but Cosmos look to have first option after Jomo Sono spotted the player during the recent COSAFA Cup.

The General Secretary of Blue Eagles FC confirmed the news:

"It is true that the lad [Mhone] is departing on Thursday to undergo trials at Jomo Cosmos. We have again been approached by another South African Club seeking his services but I will comment later; at the moment let us talk about the Jomo Cosmos issue," said Muwanga according to the Nyasa Times.

Mhone’s impressive performances at the COSAFA Cup helped his national team lift the COSAFA Plate Trophy.
