Cosmos desperate for a win

Cape Town - Jomo Cosmos go into their second match of the PSL promotion-relegation playoffs, against Moroka Swallows, without a single point to their name.

The National First Division outfit's hopes of playing in South Africa's top division next season took a knock after they lost their opening game to fellow NFD side Black Leopards 2-0.

Cosmos now face the daunting task of needing to earn points against Swallows on Sunday, the favourites to win the playoffs, or will find themselves in a more precarious position.

To make the task more difficult, the Dube Birds comfortably beat Black Leopards 2-0 in the second match of the playoffs while seemingly not at the top of their game.

Ezenkosi boss Jomo Sono believes his side played well against Leopards in the first game but lacked the cutting edge in front of goal, something he hopes to rectify for this weekend's clash.

"They [Leopards] took their chances, they took their two chances and scored, we controlled the game and we never took our chances," Sono told the Premiership's official website.

"I give my players credit, they played well, they gave their best against big crowds like this. It's not over yet and we have a long, long way to go.

"We have to make sure they don't beat us at home, we'll give them the same medicine they gave us and if we don't lose our games at home, we're back in contention."

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
