Cloete completes Celtic move

Bloemfontein - Bloemfontein Celtic have completed the signing of Ruben Cloete from Maritzburg United.

The club’s Media and Communications manager, Sello Nduna, confirmed to Sport24 on Friday that the Upington-born left-back has penned a two-year-deal with Phunya Sele Sele after agreeing personal terms with the club.

Nduna also hinted that the club has signed a deal with new technical sponsors, Kappa, for the upcoming Absa Premiership campaign to begin in the second week of August, after their contract with Reebok elapsed towards the end of last season.

“Currently we are not busy at the club offices due to the off-season period,” Nduna told Sport24.

“We will be back at the office on June 23.

“But I can confirm at the moment that we have signed Reuben Cloete from Maritzburg United this week.

“The player has agreed on personal terms with the club and he was given a two-year-contract.

“We have also launched our new technical sponsor Kappa on Friday last week.

“That is all we have until the end of our recess period,” added Nduna.

"Pretty face" will re-unite with his former United coach, Ernest Middendorp, who joined Siwelele mid-way through the last season following the departure of Clinton Larsen.

Celtic will commence their season with a clash against Bidvest Wits in the MTN8 quarter-finals to be played in the first week of August.

The venue for that encounter is yet to be confirmed.
