Cape Town - Chippa United have managed to fend off competition for Lerato Manzini after agreeing a three-year deal with the midfielder.
The Chilli Boys had been in discussion with Bloemfontein Celtic over the transfer of the player for some time, although Golden Arrows had reportedly attempted to swoop in late on and lure the playmaker to Durban.
However, Chippa were able to convince the 23-year-old to snub Abafana Bes'thende in favour of a move to Port Elizabeth, and Aftersec Sport Group CEO, Lizwe Mthethwa, has since confirmed the news.
"I'm sorry for telling you earlier that he was close to joining Arrows; what has happened now is that we have agreed terms with Chippa United," Mthethwa told KickOff.
"He's here in Johannesburg as we speak and we are going to sign the deal with Chippa. Lerato wanted to join Chippa and Chippa [Siviwe Mpengesi, the club chairman] is here to conclude everything.
"We have agreed on a three-year deal with the club. The player is excited and looking forward to the new season in PE."
