Cape Town - Chippa United owner Siviwe Mpengesi has rubbished reports that head coach Ernst Middendorp will be sacked before the end of the current PSL season.

The tactician took over at the Chilli Boys from Roger Sikhakhane in January, but has failed to win any of his six games in charge as the Port Elizabeth-based outfit find themselves just two points clear of the relegation zone.

That has led to claims Middendorp will be relieved of his duties in the coming weeks, with Sikhakhane tipped with a potential return to the hot seat, although Mpengesi has moved to clarify the situation.

"The coach is not going anywhere," Mpengesi is quoted as saying by KickOff.

"He has a contract with the club until the end of the season.

Further reports claim Middendorp is actually keen on Sikhakhane returning to Chippa, to take up a role as an assistant coach.

Meanwhile, United will host an in-form AmaZulu in an Absa Premiership match at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

Kick-off at 20:00 on Friday, March 13.
