Chippa clash will be tricky - Lekgwathi

Cape Town - After back-to-back defeats to Chippa United last season, Orlando Pirates veteran Lucky Lekgwathi predicts yet another tough game when the two sides clash on Tuesday.

Lekgwathi, who has been the club’s most successful captain stressed that they will not underestimate the Chilli Boys and will not forget that Pirates former players like Mark Mayambela will be challenging them.

“You know what? One word. Tough. They [Chippa] played very well against Chiefs and I think that opened a lot of people’s eyes, that we should not underestimate them,” Lucky told Sport24.

“We also need to see that they have our former players; Mark Mayambela, William Twala you know. That makes it very difficult for us.

“It’s obvious they will come here [Orlando] to prove a point so it’s going to definitely be a tricky one for us.

The 39-year-old said that although Chippa will come to Orlando stadium to prove a point, Pirates will play as a team because they know that the supporters have high expectations of them and they have to redeem themselves after they lost 1-0 to SuperSport united.

“We have played against them several times and they have always given us a hard time we can’t forget.

“We have lost against them in P.E and Orlando so we must just make sure we are on the lookout and not underestimate these boys.

“We play as a team, no individuals. We know the expectations of our supporters are too high and we need to make sure we redeem after our loss from SuperSport.

“We have to grab every chance that we have tomorrow night,” he concluded.

Kick-off at the Orlando Stadium is set for 19:30.
