Pretoria - Kaizer Chiefs’ attacking midfielder Siphiwe Tshabalala admits Amakhosi had a tough run for their money following their 1-0 win over the University of Pretoria.
The Phefeni Glamour Boys stretched their lead at the PSL log summit after defeating the Students at Tuks stadium on Tuesday thanks to a well taken free kick by Tshabalala.
The former Bafana Bafana star hinted that his team-mates were fully aware of the threat AmaTuks could pose they had to fight hard to walk away with maximum points.
“It was very difficult coming to Tuks and playing against them,” said Tshabalala.
“We knew that it wasn’t going to be an easy game because they are a hard working team with a good squad.
“So we had to sweat deeper and deeper as a team, working very hard so that we could get the maximum points.
“We needed those three points the most and we managed to get all of them at the end of the day.
“And I’m also happy with my contribution to the team after the game.”
A win for the Soweto giants eased pressure on their shoulders as they have stretched their lead to 13 points with only four games remaining.
They will face Polokwane City in their next league assignment at home on Wednesday next week.
