Cape Town - Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Gert Schalkwyk is confident Tefu Mashamaite and Itumeleng Khune will extend their contracts with the club.

Both Mashamaite and Khune's deals expire next month, with rumours circulating that both are headed for the exit door.
Sport24 reported that the Motaung family have jointly accepted that Khune has reached expiry date at the Naturena club and are expected to announce his exit at their press conference on Tuesday, June 2. Meanwhile, Stuart Baxter is expected to take up a post with a Turkish club after submitting his resignation.
However, Schalkwyk doesn't believe either player is going anywhere and feels they will eventually renew their contracts with the club.
"That's always the case at big clubs, especially when they come off a good season like they have right now. You find these contractual issues that can be very disturbing," Schalkwyk told goal.com.
"But I think with Chiefs being the professional club it is, they will find a way of dealing with it and I believe both Mashamaite and Khune will stay at the club."
The 33-year-old went on to admire the strength of the current Chiefs squad and thinks they will definitely challenge for trophies again next season.
