Chiefs racked up a third successive win when they defeated University of Pretoria 1-0 away last week. They will mathematically secure the championship if they pick up another victory in this match.

The Soweto giants have claimed 31 points from 13 home matches this season.

Their next three league opponents are Mamelodi Sundowns (away), Bidvest Wits (home) and Chippa United (away).

The Amakhosi are placed first on the Absa Premiership log with 60 points from 26 matches.

Polokwane suffered a second successive league loss when they went down 3-2 at home to Free State Stars on Saturday.

The Limpopo side has claimed 15 points from 13 away matches this season.

Their next three league opponents are Black Aces (home), Platinum Stars (away) and SuperSport United (home).

Rise and Shine are placed ninth on the Absa Premiership log with 33 points from 26 matches.

In head-to-head stats, Chiefs and Polokwane have met in three league matches since 2013/14.

The Amakhosi have an unbeaten record in the sequence, with two wins and one draw from the trio of matches.

Chiefs’ only previous home league match against Polokwane was a 4-1 win in the first half of last season.

When the teams met earlier this season, they played to a goalless stalemate in Polokwane.

Kick-off is at 19:30 on Wednesday, April 22.
