Chiefs sign Ugandan defender

Johannesburg - Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed the signing of Uganda international, Ivan Bukenya, on a two year deal with an option for extension.

Bukenya, who has been on trial at the club for the past few weeks has impressed in training and practice matches.

The  player spoke of his delight at joining the Glamour Boys, telling his new club's official website: "I received a warm welcome from the player and everyone at The Village. The Captain (Itumeleng Khune) is forever happy and has been supportive.

"There is a spirit of love and peace in the team and I am looking forward to a great time here."

Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung also welcomed the defender: "We would like to welcome Ivan to the team. He is a quality player and has both defensive and midfield qualities.He is professional.

"Age is on his side as well and we are hoping for longer relations. The coach (Stuart Baxter) has worked with him and is happy with what he saw."
