Chiefs out to stretch lead

Cape Town - Bloemfontein Celtic will face the challenge of hosting Absa Premiership leaders Kaizer Chiefs at Free State Stadium.

Celtic ended 2014 on a low note when they were beaten 2-1 at Orlando Pirates.

The Bloemfontein side has claimed nine points from seven home matches this season.

Their next three league opponents are AmaZulu, Platinum Stars (both home) and Bidvest Wits (away).

Phunya Sele Sele are placed 10th on the PSL with 20 points from 17 matches.

Chiefs ended 2014 with a run of three straight wins, the last of which was 1-0 at home over Black Aces.

The Soweto giants have claimed 22 points from eight away matches this season.

Their next three league opponents are SuperSport United (away), Ajax Cape Town and Orlando Pirates (both home).

The Amakhosi are placed first on the Absa Premiership log with 46 points from 18 matches.

In head-to-head stats, Celtic and Chiefs have met in 54 league matches since 1985.

The Amakhosi have 31 wins compared to 10 for Phunya Sele Sele, while 13 matches have been drawn.

Celtic have won eight of their 26 home matches against Chiefs, suffering eight defeats in the process.

When the teams met earlier this season, Amakhosi won 1-0 at home thanks to a goal from Masango.

Kick-off at 19:30 on Wednesday, February 11.
