Johannesburg - The list of potential candidates to fill the vacant Kaizer Chiefs coach's role continues to grow after Bobby Motaung revealed the club had "quite a number of applications".
The likes of former Bafana Bafana coaches Carlos Alberto Parreira and Stuart Baxter have been heavily linked with the job following Vladimir Vermezovic's sacking earlier this month.
Free State Stars coach Steve Komphela has also been described as Amakhosi material, while another former Bafana tactician, Carlos Queiros, is also believed to be in the running.
However, general manager Motaung refused to drop any hints as to who they were looking most closeyl at, telling Sunday World: "On names, my lips are sealed.
"Yes, we have received quite a number of applications, but I am not mentioning names.
"It's a mixture of local and overseas, that is all I can tell you."
Motaung went on to reveal the Glamour Boys are looking to make a long-term investment in their next coach, but that the decision will be made shortly.
"It's going to be a challenge for us to choose the right candidate. We know what we are looking for. Getting the right coach is not about the name of the person, but it's about what we want for the team," he added.
"We are working on a long-term plan and it's a matter of time before we make an announcement."
