Chiefs mum on new coach

2012-04-23 12:47

Johannesburg - The list of potential candidates to fill the vacant Kaizer Chiefs coach's role continues to grow after Bobby Motaung revealed the club had "quite a number of applications".

The likes of former Bafana Bafana coaches Carlos Alberto Parreira and Stuart Baxter have been heavily linked with the job following Vladimir Vermezovic's sacking earlier this month.

Free State Stars coach Steve Komphela has also been described as Amakhosi material, while another former Bafana tactician, Carlos Queiros, is also believed to be in the running.

However, general manager Motaung refused to drop any hints as to who they were looking most closeyl at, telling Sunday World: "On names, my lips are sealed.

"Yes, we have received quite a number of applications, but I am not mentioning names.

"It's a mixture of local and overseas, that is all I can tell you."

Motaung went on to reveal the Glamour Boys are looking to make a long-term investment in their next coach, but that the decision will be made shortly.

"It's going to be a challenge for us to choose the right candidate. We know what we are looking for. Getting the right coach is not about the name of the person, but it's about what we want for the team," he added.

"We are working on a long-term plan and it's a matter of time before we make an announcement."

I think is only 1 candidate from SA. Is only Khompela the rest is foreign coaches. So our home coach must forget he can't be the choice of Chiefs Management at all. The best trusted coaches from our country foregn coaches. In national team or locals. Our country doesn't believe to it locals. But believes in foreign. It shame for our brother.

I submitted my CV and can tell you right ahead that Amakhosi will start playing iola ya kasie - abo tsamaya, chibobo, which is missing in the PSL. We will have the glamour that Chiefs of old was known for and revered all over the country. For the first time, we will have people in Gauteng going to stadiums and supporting the team. All that Bobby and management are left with is to do the right thing.

Foreign or Local , thina skhathele ukuba yi laughing stock kule league , can`t even go to the stadiums anymore cause we come back embarrassed ! They must get a winning team period , three years of failure cannot be condoned in the Gold and Black . Another thing , players are not to be sold like one is selling KFC , good players must be retained , why always sell good players then go on the market only to get cheaper and less inspiring players .

Kaizer Chiefs will NEVER hire a local coach (i feel sorry for KHUSE, KHUMALO & ZWANE). though there are two or three local coaches that they can consider.... yet again, question is....if all other coaches that came and worked at/for Chiefs are fired BUT the assistant still remains (Khuse) what good does his position do...coz he must have an influence in both the good and bad that the HEAD COACH is complimented/accused of?!? SA football.... *SIGH*.

You must start with players of high quality, not these nobody's you always sign. Chiefs used to be envy of football players, nowadays it's a refuge for rejects from teams like Free State stars.

No coach will achieve anything with those kind of players they are too average last season chiefs sold nahayo and musona those two players I understand it was a opportunity to play overseas but what I don't understand is why punch was sold to sundowns if there's anyone that knows pls help me understand

      sgegede.nhlapo1 - 2012-04-23 19:05

Ja ne Tubatsi you hit it hard on the nail, chiefs has really bought average players. Even if they hire Quiroz,Pareira I doubt whether it will bring any difference

      Godfrey - 2012-04-23 19:35
