Chiefs lose Tau due to injury

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs  have been dealt a serious blow after rightback Jimmy Tau has been ruled out for the rest of the season due to injury, according to the club's website.

Tau has been out since the end of last season after initially injuring his ankle in a 0-0 draw against AmaZulu in May the last game of the seaon.

Chiefs issued a statement earlier that the player was going to be out for three months and would return to training in September which didn’t happen although he did start light training under the watchful eye of the medical team.

Team physiotherapist Dave Milner revealed the sad news to the Amakhosi fans, “Jimmy Tau has undergone a surgery to stabilise a joint on his left foot after tearing a ligament. He was assessed after completing training session last week.

It was initially decided by the medical team that we try conservative management first to try and stabilise the joint with exercise and strapping before further management would be considered.

Unfortunately the injury did not respond and he had a surgery on Tuesday. He will be out for the rest of the season,” Milner said.
