Chiefs legend surprised by Ajax

Cape Town - Legendary Kaizer Chiefs defender Gardner Seale said that Ajax Cape Town has surprised him a lot this season alongside the smaller clubs, who have been coming up the log compared to other seasons in the PSL league.

The retired defender insisted that Bidvest Wits is a stronger contender than the Urban Warriors and added that it should have been them to face Amakhosi in the final.

Seale said that although Chiefs are very experienced cup competitions he expects Ajax to cause some trouble in the final MTN8 Cup final clash.

“In my opinion there have been so many teams coming up to the challenge and mostly Ajax has surprised me a lot this season,” he told Sport24.

“On the other hand I think Wits is much stronger than Ajax and it should have been them in the final against Chiefs; that red card was really unfortunate for them.

“I always say it’s easier to play a team you are familiar with and that is what will be a problem for De Sa’s boys who are mostly youth and still have a lot to catch up on.

“Yes, experience doesn’t count when you put in the necessary performance required; it is a plus but you have to work hard and put experience aside and focus on the main goal in front of you.

“Chiefs are very good with Cup games but I don’t think they are happy with playing against Ajax in the final because I think they would have preferred Hunt’s side but we will have to wait and see how it turns out.

Amakhosi will face Ajax on Saturday, September 19 in the final with the venue still to be confirmed.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
