Cape Town - Following Kaizer Chiefs victory over Mamelodi Sundowns, Stuart Baxter says that his side has been grinding out such results all season.

According to KickOff, Baxter says that he was prepared to leave Lucas Moripe stadium with an honourable draw.

“I was resigning myself to an honourable 0-0 when we pitch up with a nice little spin and a cross and we get in on it. And we’ll take that!”

With seconds remaining in the tie, Amakhosi snatched the winner as the home defence was caught napping.

Parker nipped in just ahead of his man to get on the end of Reneilwe Letsholonyane's low cross delivery and although Onyango was able to make an initial save, the ball ricocheted back off the striker and into the net.

“That’s really a complement I need to pay the players for the whole year – they’ve done what was needed to be done on that day, and if they’ve needed to dig it out, they dig it out. And if we play great football, it’s been great football. If it’s set-plays, it’s set-plays.

“And that’s what it is: over a long season you’ve got to win games in football by many ways, and that’s what they showed tonight.”
