According to the Daily Sun, some people were under the impression that Mwandla was stoned to death by irritated Orlando Pirates fans.

Mwandla’s brother, Sabelo Mwandla, confirmed that his body was found next to a shop’s container in Lindelani, KwaZulu-Natal.

“I could not believe my eyes when I saw my little brother lying in a pool of blood,” said (Sabelo) Mwandla.

“He had been stabbed and bloody rocks were lying next to him. Nobody has come forward to say what really happened, or who attacked him and why.”

His brother confirmed that people have come forward and said that it was three guys who attacked the 19-year-old. Sabelo admitted that he found it weird that his brother's cellphone and money were still found in his pocket.

Scelo’s grandmother, Regina Mwandla, said that her grandson was in a happy state on the morning of the final as he was going to watch it with friends.

“He was doing everything quickly, rushing to go and be with his friends so that they could watch the game together. But now he is gone, and it breaks my heart.”

It has been reported that police are investigating a murder case.
