Johannesburg - Kaizer Chiefs communications manager, Vina Maphosa, has denied reports linking former Bafana Bafana captain Aaron Mokoena with a move to Naturena.
The 32-year-old is still without a club after he was released by Wits at the end of last season and was reported to be on his way to the Glamour Boys before the closing of the transfer window late last month.
Maphosa on Wednesday told the GOAL.com website that although the Amakhosi intend to sign a central defender, they are not interested in Mokoena’s services.
Maphosa also said they are in the process of negotiating a possible deal with the Ugandan international, Ivan Bukenya.
“There is no truth in that. We are not looking to sign Aaron Mokoena,” Maphosa said.
“The only player that we are still waiting for is the Ugandan defender Ivan Bukenya and no one else,” he added.
Mokoena joined the Clever Boys at the beginning of last season after parting ways with the English Championship side, Portsmouth.
He also played for Blackburn Rovers in the English Premiership alongside his Bafana team-mate Benni McCarthy.
“Mbazo” remains the most capped player in the Bafana colours, earning 107 caps.
