Cape Town - Bidvest Wits face a tough task in keeping their top-three ambitions alive as they travel to the FNB Stadium to face newly-crowned Premiership champions Kaizer Chiefs.

Read: Pirates not distracted by 'Downs

Amakhosi made mathematically sure of the title a fortnight ago after beating Polokwane City 4-1, before reaffirming their status as South African kings by edging outgoing champions Mamelodi Sundowns 1-0 last week.

The win over the Brazilians not only saw Chiefs set a new PSL record with a tally of 66 points, it also left them joint-level with Sundowns for most wins in a PSL season (20), meaning there is still plenty to play for this season.

Wits, meanwhile, will be desperate to snap their three-game winless run as they look to keep pace with the top three, having slipped to fourth in recent weeks following a poor run of form at a critical time in the season.

The Students are just two points adrift of Orlando Pirates in third, a position that comes with CAF Confederations Cup football next year, and while second earns a ticket to the CAF Champions League, Sundowns' five-point lead over Wits is unlikely to be overcome with just two games remaining.

In team news, Chiefs and Wits are two of only seven teams this week to be without any suspensions, although Siphiwe Tshabalala will be aware of the fact he's currently on three yellow cards and in danger of missing Amakhosi's final match of the season, away to Chippa United on Saturday.

The Clever Boys have four players walking the suspension tightrope, namely Vincent Pule, Moeneeb Josephs, Sameehg Doutie and Sandile Zuke, who are all on bookings.

Kick-off is at 19:30.
