Chiefs abandon Coetzee chase

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly pulled out of the race to sign young defender Rivaldo Coetzee from Ajax Cape Town.

Having already signed defenders Siyanda Xulu and Daniel Cardoso, Chiefs feel their defence has been strengthened sufficiently ahead of the upcoming Absa Premiership season.

"Coetzee is no longer on the club's wanted list... at least for the upcoming season," an unnamed source told goal.com.

Coetzee's agent, Tim Sukazi, revealed that the 18-year-old would in all likelihood stay with the Urban Warriors after no clubs came forward with a substantial offer.

"There was interest in the player from top clubs, but nothing concrete so far. So, at this stage, he's staying at Ajax," Sukazi said.
