Speaking to Chiefs’ website, Lutz Pfannenstiel (Head of International Relations and Scouting) and Thomas Richter (Head of Professional Team and Organisation) said the visit to Soweto was to “strengthen” the ties with the MTN8 champions.

“We are occupying the second spot in the Bundesliga at the moment (second to the reigning champions FC Bayern München). We haven’t lost a game, the same as Chiefs are doing currently,” said Pfannenstiel from the German outfit.

“The aim of our visit is to assess the facilities in South Africa for our winter-pre season in January 2015. This is another great opportunity to strengthen our engagement between us and Chiefs.”

Amakhosi’s football manager Bobby Motaung previously visited Hoffenheim and says that the facilities are among the best in the world.

“Hoffenheim has one of the best facilities you can find in football. The technology they use in their youth development is one of the best in the world.”

Chiefs and Hoffenheim are enjoying a collaborative relationship with former Glamour Boy marksman, Knowledge Musona, currently on the books of the German side.

“The Chiefs setup is professional. The facilities are similar to what you will find in Europe. You have the best opportunity to grow as a leading club in Africa,” said Pfannenstiel.

Richter added, “The Chiefs Village is a nice professional facility. It is a good facility to grow new talent and become a leading club in your league.”

“Looking at the plans to develop the facility, the juniors will be motivated to be closer to the seniors, which is good for development.”
