Cape Town - Before his proposed move away from Moroka Swallows, Lerato Chabangu wants to ensure the club's status in the Premiership.

The Dube Birds dodged the relegation bullet by a whisker this term after finishing the campaign 15th, but are now into the play-offs, where they will battle against Black Leopards and Jomo Cosmos to remain in South Africa's top flight.

Chabangu has been linked with a move to Bidvest Wits next season as a free agent. His current deal at The Nest is winding down; although the former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder's immediate priority is to make sure that the old Soweto club is safe and sound in the big league.

"It is very important because I got Swallows in the league, so for me it is important to leave them in a good space," Chabangu is quoted as saying by KickOff.

"They have done a lot for me, so it will be good to leave them in the League.

"We are looking to work hard to stay in the Absa Premiership - Swallows don't deserve to go down."
