Celtic shoot down Arrows

Bloemfontein - Bloemfontein Celtic have extended their unbeaten run in the PSL to eight matches with a comfortable 3-0 win over Golden Arrows at the Kaizer Sebothelo Stadium on Wednesday evening.

The early kick-off saw first half goals from Frank Mhango, Thabo Nthethe and Vuyani Ntanga hand Phunya Sele Sele their comprehensive victory.

Celtic got off to a fast start and opened the scoring in the fourth minute through Frank Mhango, who beat Arrows goalkeeper Siya Mngoma with a right-footed effort.

Midway through the first half Celtic captain Thabo Nthethe doubled his team’s advantage, heading home from Vuyani Ntanga’s cross to make it 2-0.

And Phunya Sele Sele effectively killed off Arrows’ challenge just past the half hour mark, with Ntanga turning from provider to scorer by meeting Musa Nyatama’s pass and finishing with his left foot for 3-0.

The visitors resorted to making a change even before half time, withdrawing Nkanyiso Cele and putting on defender Siyanda Zwane to try and stem Celtic’s attacking tide.

Phunya Sele Sele took their foot off the pedal in the second half, which saw more yellow cards dished out than goal-scoring chances created, not that it mattered to the hosts, who had put in all the hard yards they needed to in the first 45 minutes.

Celtic’s next outing sees them away to Platinum Stars next midweek, while Arrows host Durban rivals AmaZulu on December 14.
