Cape Town - Polokwane City and Bloemfontein Celtic will open their 2015/16 Absa Premiership campaign with a meeting at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.

Polokwane ended last season in 12th place, with 34 points from their 30 matches.

The Limpopo side failed to win any of their final seven matches, picking up just two points from a possible 21.

Celtic finished in sixth place last season, recording 40 points from their 30 matches.

The Bloemfontein side ended the campaign with a strong of three successive defeats, falling to Ajax Cape Town, Free State Stars and Moroka Swallows.

In head-to-head stats, Polokwane and Celtic have met in four league matches since the former was first promoted to the top flight in 2013.

Phunya Sele Sele have claimed three wins compared to one for Rise and Shine, while the teams have yet to play out a draw.

Polokwane have a mixed home record against Celtic, with one win and one defeat from two matches in the Limpopo province.

Last season Phunya Sele Sele claimed a 5-1 home win in the teams’ first match, while the return fixture saw Rise and Shine record a 3-0 victory.

The teams’ four previous league matches have produced no less than 17 goals.

The match is set for Saturday, August 8.

Kick-off is at 15:00.
