Celtic, SSU to tussle for points

Cape Town - Bloemfontein Celtic will look to continue their winning streak in the Absa Premiership when they host SuperSport United at Free State Stadium.

Celtic claimed a third successive win when they defeated Bidvest Wits 1-0 in Johannesburg on Friday night.

The Bloemfontein side has claimed 16 points from 10 home matches this season.

Their next three league opponents are Polokwane City (away), University of Pretoria (home) and Mamelodi Sundowns (away).

Phunya Sele Sele are placed sixth on the Absa Premiership log with 30 points from 21 matches.

SuperSport suffered a second successive league loss when they went down 2-1 at home to Ajax Cape Town on Saturday.

The Tshwane side has claimed 13 points from nine away matches this season.

Their next three league opponents are University of Pretoria (home), Maritzburg United and Platinum Stars (both away).

Matsatsantsa are placed ninth on the log with 27 points from 21 matches.

In head-to-head stats, Celtic and SuperSport have met in 42 league matches since 1990.

Matsatsantsa have 11 wins compared to 10 for Phunya Sele Sele, while 21 matches have been drawn.

Celtic have won five of their 21 home matches against United, suffering four defeats in the process.

When the teams met earlier this season, goals from Ndlovu, Mokeke and Daniels took Matsatsantsa to a 3-0 home win.

Kick-off is at 19:30 on Wednesday, March 11.
