Cardoso inks deal with Chiefs

Cape Town - Kaizer Chiefs are reported to have completed the signing of central defender, Daniel Cardoso, on a three year deal.

Free State Stars initially turned down an offer from the Glamour Boys that was said to be in the region of R2m but the Soweto Giants returned with an improved fee.

It is believed that the player has finally put pen to paper after being convinced to make the move during a successful round of talks with Chiefs management.

Cardoso made his Bafana debut in a 3-1 victory over Swaziland in March this year after his performances for Ea Lla Koto caught the eye of coach Shakes Mashaba.

Chiefs are yet to officially confirm the signing of the versatile defender. They are, however, expected to do so in their press conference on Tuesday. That same day could turn out to be a big day for Cardoso as he is expecting to be named Mashaba’s Bafana squad for the Afcon qualifiers in which Bafana take on Gabon.

With the resignation of Stuart Baxter and the ongoing saga around their inability to secure contract extensions for some of their star players, the Cardoso signing should be music to the ears of Chiefs fans.
