Cape Town Cup tickets slashed

Cape Town - Ticket prices for the inaugural Cape Town Cup have been reduced further, in line with the Bafana Bafana match ticket prices, to make it more affordable for soccer enthusiasts to attend the matches.

Tickets prices for the Cape Town Cup have been reduced to R60, R80 and R100 and are available through Computicket.

"A number of passionate soccer fans have expressed a view that the ticket prices were too high and therefore unaffordable. Our intention has not been to exclude die-hard soccer followers. We have therefore listened to what our residents have asked for and reduced the prices of the tickets in line with the Bafana Bafana games. We do hope that the reduced prices are more affordable and that this will encourage our soccer enthusiasts to now attend the matches," said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Tourism, Events and Economic Development, Councillor Garreth Bloor.  

Tickets are available through Computicket and the reduced prices are as follows: 

R60 (was R200) Single Shooter - Single match ticket for either Friday or Sunday, Seating behind the goal posts, on the north and south stands

R80 (was R300) Single Shot - Single match ticket for either Friday or Sunday, Seating on the east stands

R100 (was R400) Double-header, Match ticket for either Friday or Sunday, Seating on the west stand (the best seats in the house)

"We would like to advise those who bought their tickets earlier that they are entitled to a cash refund. They may take their ticket to Computicket who will issue a new ticket with the new pricing, together with a cash refund for the difference. Tickets will not be sold at the stadium on the day and fans are urged to purchase their tickets early in order to avoid disappointment. We are calling on soccer fans to come armed with lots of gees and rally behind our home team Ajax Cape Town as they go head to head with Sporting Clube de Portugal in their opening match.

"It is on the back of a successful inaugural event that we can position Cape Town as a number one pre-season venue for top Premier and local teams. Therefore we urge Capetonians to show their support. In addition to what promises to be an action-packed two days of Premier League soccer, the support of Cape Town’s fans this weekend is crucial if we want to secure top teams at next year’s cup and future cups," added Councillor Bloor.

The soccer action will kick off on Friday 24 July 2015 at 17:45 with SuperSport United FC and Crystal Palace FC going head to head to secure a spot in the finals. This match will be followed by Ajax Cape Town and Sporting Clube de Portugal at 20:15.

The action on Sunday 26 July 2015 will start at 13:00, with the losing team of Friday’s first double-header challenging the losing team of the second match. This will be followed by the winners from Friday battling it out to be crowned 2015 Cape Town Cup champions.
