Following a return to the club in 2013, the 32-year-old has shown some of his best form this season, helping the Urban Warriors to the Nedbank Cup final, as well as a fifth-placed finish in the Premiership.

A statement released on the Cape Town club's official website read: "Ajax Cape Town are extremely pleased to announce that the option on Franklin Cale’s contract has been exercised, which will see Cale remain an Urban Warrior for at least another season.

"A through-and-through Urban Warrior, Cale was one of the most influential players that this club has ever produced.

"The 2014/15 Absa Premiership season proved to be a largely successful season, not only for the team, but also individually for Cale as he took up the role of leading the youngsters throughout the season, both in matches as well as in training."
