Cape Town - Ajax Cape Town head coach Roger De Sa believes the club's last league game against Orlando Pirates was the perfect preparation for the Nedbank Cup final.

The Urban Warriors closed out the Premiership season with a 2-2 draw against Pirates to finish the season in fifth place.

The Cape side's campaign is not over yet, though, as they take on Mamelodi Sundowns in the Ke Yona showpiece on Saturday at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

Despite surrendering a two-goal half-time lead to share the points with Pirates, De Sa was happy with how the game went.

"It's a great preparation playing against Pirates, leading up the final against Sundowns," he told Soccer Laduma.

"There are some similarities in the two teams. They are full of quality players and they are going to come at you.

The former Bidvest Wits coach reveals that he was glad to see his players cope with some of the best players the league has to offer.

De Sa decided to rest several of his key players for the Buccaneers clash in a bid to keep them fresh for the Nedbank Cup, and is hoping their return will give the Urban Warriors the edge against Sundowns.

"Hopefully, with the return of [Tashreeq] Morris, [Toriq] Losper, Rivaldo [Coetzee], [Abbubaker] Mobara and a few others we'll be even stronger."

Kick-off is at 15:00.
