Bucs must be more aggressive

Johannesburg - Thabo Matlaba expressed his disappointment following Pirates’ stalemate with AmaZulu.

The full-back, who was on the score-sheet for The Buccaneers, showed massive concern at his side’s inability to overcome visitors in league matches at Orlando Stadium.

Pirates collected just one point from two home matches played so far in the current Absa Premiership campaign.

But Matlaba says that despite failing to win the match that they will not give up.

“We already dropped five points at home. That is not good,” said Matlaba on the clubs website.

“We understand our problem so, we will go back to training and we must fix it.”

“I don't think we played bad.”

“We made a mistake at the back and AmaZulu took advantage of that but we are not worried because we can change things very quick.”

Matlaba sternly states that he’s side are just too nice to opponents at the Orlando and feels their aggression should increase on match days.

“With more concentration and aggressiveness, I think we will be better; but don't worry - we will be better,” concluded the Bafana Bafana international.

Pirates are up against Bidvest Wits on Saturday in the MTN8 semi-final clash with a comfortable 2-0 cushion.

Match is scheduled to start at 20:15.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
