Johannesburg - Orlando Pirates have beaten Costa do Sol of Mozambique 2-1 in a practice match played behind closed doors at Rand Stadium on Wednesday.
According to the club's official website, Kermit Erasmus put the hosts in the lead after ten minutes.
However, Costa do Sol , who finished in fourth spot in the Moçambola (Mozambique's premier division), leveled matters to go into the half-time break at 1-1.
The Bucs technical team then made a host of substitutions, with goalkeeper Fatau Dauda replacing Brighton Mhlongo while winger Joseph Molangoane came in for Sifiso Myeni.
Ndumiso Mabena and Lennox Bacela were also given a run and immediately influenced proceedings.
Mabena initiated a swift counter attack, after which Molangoane ran into space, subsequently set free by Bacela; where the winger found himself isolated with the goalkeeper, making no mistake as he fired a low shot into the bottom right corner of the visitor’s goal to restore Bucs' lead and in the end, hand them victory.
“It was a good game.
"The visitors play good football,” said coach Roger de Sa.
Costa do Sol will will leave for Portugal on Friday, where they will continue with their preparations ahead of the start of the Mozambican League, scheduled for March.
