Cape Town - Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates are being linked with a move for Polokwane City defender Vukile Mngqibisa.

According to the player's agent, Mandla Mthembu, the 26-year-old defender is destined for a “big move” in the near future.

"I want you to put it on record that Mngqibisa will be making a big move very soon.

"That’s the success we are making," Mthembu told Soccer Laduma.

The Polokwane City defender was the subject of a failed move during the summer transfer window but the new speculation links the player with a move to PSL giants Mamelodi Sundowns or Orlando Pirates .

“I will make an announcement at the right time.

"Right now the transfer window is not open.”

“I can’t go on about what’s supposed to happen during the transfer window when the player has to focus on his job at Polokwane City," added Mthembu.

Mngqibisa made 26 appearances for the Rise and Shine last season, scoring three goals during that time.

Polokwane City will prepare themselves for a stern test from Bloemfontein Celtic when local football resumes this weekend.

Both sides are looking to move away from the danger zone near the bottom of the Absa Premiership table when they meet at Free State Stadium on Sunday, October 19. Kick-off is at 15:30.
