Black Label Cup teams named

Cape Town - According to the Sowetan website, a record 22.2 million votes were cast by Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs fans to decide the starting line-ups for the 2013 Carling Black Label Cup.

This year’s Carling Black Label Cup campaign has again surpassed expectations, setting a new benchmark for the number of votes cast by passionate supporters in a derby between the two Soweto giants in a competition that allows fans to play coach by selecting the teams.

The teams have begun final preparations for the sold-out match.

Siyabonga Sangweni received the most votes among the defenders from Pirates fans, but will not play due to an injury.

Itumeleng Khune, with 2.6 million votes, received the most votes from fans out of any player on either side.

If the score is level at the final whistle, the result will be determined with a penalty shoot-out.

Voting has not yet ended though, as for the first time this year fans can still vote for the first substitution of the game on the 50 minute mark, as fans will have a chance to pick recent signings such as Knowledge Musona (Chiefs) and Kermit Erasmus (Pirates).

Orlando Pirates have won the past two competitions, winning in a penalty shoot-out on both occasions.

Kick-off for Saturday's clash at the FNB Stadium is 15:30.
