Johannesburg - Platinum Stars came close to pipping eventual league winners Kaizer Chiefs to the PSL title, however their forward, Henrico Botes, says that he feels the Amakhosi deserved their glory.
Chiefs' 1-1 draw with SuperSport United last night took them four points clear of Dikwena, ending their already slim chances of being caught. The new PSL champions will be handed their trophy this weekend after their game against University of Pretoria.
Botes, who has been a star performer for Cavin Johnson’s side this year, was quick to congratulate his rivals. He said, “We ran a good race you know, but I think they deserved it.

"They have been the most consistent team in the league, they’ve only lost one game, have scored more goals than anyone and have the joint-best defence in the league. So congratulations to them."
When asked whether his side could challenge for the title again next year, the 33-year-old was optimistic.
He said, "Yes, why not! It will be more difficult, teams are aware of us now but we can challenge. A few acquisitions and keeping our Gaffer will be key though."
