Booth to sign Ajax deal

Johannesburg - Matthew Booth is expected to sign a new one-year deal at Ajax Cape Town as soon as he returns from his current holiday.

Booth recently left South Africa on holiday but will return in time for Ajax’s preseason when it begins on June 23rd.

The 35-year-old had a good first season for The Urban Warriors since signing from Mamelodi Sundowns and it was never expected that he would be wearing any other shirt other than the Ajax one next season.

It is thought that Booth will sign a one-year contract with an option to extend by another year when he does arrive back in Mzansi

Shooz Mekuto, the club’s PRO, told the crew, “Nothing has changed yet, but we’re going to offer him a contract when he comes back. I’m sure he’ll come back a couple of days earlier and make sure everything is concluded.”

The former Krylia Sovetov man will be hoping that his second campaign under Maarten Stekelenburg will be more successful than his first, and he can expect to have at least a few new teammates when he does return to Cape Town.
