Cape Town - Former Ajax Cape Town and Bafana Bafana defender Matthew Booth could join Wits for one last season in the PSL, according to a report on the Soccer Laduma website.
The 36-year-old recently informed Ajax that he would not be signing an extension to his contract, instead opting to return to Johannesburg for family reasons.
And according to Soccer Laduma, Booth is likely to sign with Gavin Hunt’s side for one season before retiring.
His agent, Paul Mitchell, said: “After several discussions with Ajax Cape Town, Matthew informed them of his decision to return to Jo’burg. He’s very grateful for his time at Ajax, he enjoyed it immensely, and at this time there is interest from a couple of clubs but at this moment in time there is nothing confirmed.”
Booth made 40 appearances for Ajax over the last two seasons, scoring five goals.
