Boa Morte quits Pirates

Soweto - Former Arsenal, Fulham and West Ham United striker Luis Boa Morte quit South African Premiership leaders Orlando Pirates on Monday after less than four months at the Soweto club.

The 34-year-old former Portuguese international signed an 18-month contract last January, but made only two starts for one of the most popular and successful South African football clubs.

"Boa Morte has written a letter citing his intention to leave and the club has acceded to the request," a statement said ahead of the final round of the league this weekend with Pirates two points ahead of Moroka Swallows.
